Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: The UNESCO Heritage Sites of Mahabalipuram
Activity: Arrival, Airport Pickup and Transfer to Mahabalipuram Hotel, Afternoon visit to UNESCO Heritage sites and Shore Temple

Our guide will pick you up from Chennai International Airport. We will drive for roughly 1.5 hours along the scenic East Coast Road. Upon arrival in Mahabalipuram, we have a beautiful stay on the shores of Bay of Bengal. Mahabalipuram, is famous for its ancient rock-cut temples, intricate stone carvings and UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Pallava dynasty, which ruled this area between 6th and 9th centuries CE, created these majestic edifices. In the afternoon, we will visit these Heritage sites, starting with the iconic Shore Temple, renowned for its rock-cut architecture and seaside location.
Day 2: Cycling to Pondicherry
Activity: Cycling along coastal villages and lakes, Transfer to Hotel, Pondicherry Sightseeing: visit French Quarters and Auroville
Hotel: Palais De Mahe

The route will be a 60-kilometer journey to the villages by the coast and serene waters and a ride along the salt producing region. The route, which is characterized by flat backroads, displays traditional village life, green fields, and peaceful waters of inland lakes. After this energised ride towards Pondicherry, will check in to hotel, barely 50 metres from the cool breezes and gentle rumblings of the Bay of Bengal. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the charming French Quarters of Pondicherry; an area famed for colonial architecture, cozy cafes and busy streets. Another place to visit is Auroville – it was established as a universal township where people live together regardless of their nationality; it has peaceful atmosphere and famous Matrimandir.
Day 3: Cycling to Kumbakonam
Activity: Cycling along irrigation canals and paddy fields, Transfer to Hotel, Witness silk saree weaving
Hotel: Mantra Koodam

Start your day with a 60-kilometer ride to Kumbakonam, along irrigation canals and through the beautiful lush paddy fields. Kumbakonam,(Coommbaconum) popular as a temple town, is home to around 188 temples. It is an idyllic town skirted by Cauvery and Arasalar rivers. The flat backroads make for a pleasant and scenic journey, giving you a glimpse of the tranquil countryside and daily village life. After the ride, we will take you to a serene and comfortable hotel where you can relax. In the afternoon, you’ll have the golden chance to witness the process of silk saree weaving, a traditional craft of the region. This visit also offers a fascinating look at the skill and artistry, involved in creating these beautiful garments.
Day 4: Great Living Chola Temples
Activity: Visit the Brihadisvara Temple at Thanjavur, the Brihadisvara Temple at Gangaikondacholapuram and Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram

Spend a day exploring the magnificent Great Living Chola Temples which were constructed between 11th and 12th centur, starting with the awe-inspiring Brihadisvara Temple at Thanjavur, known for its towering vimana and intricate sculptures. Next, visit the Brihadisvara Temple at Gangaikondacholapuram, celebrated for its grand architecture and historical significance. Each temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, showcases the artistic excellence of the Chola dynasty. And finally, admire the exquisite carvings and unique design of the Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram.
Day 5: Cycling to Chettinadu
Activity: Cycling through rustic villages, Heritage walk, Cooking demo on Local Cuisine

Early mornings are for adventures through tranquil back roads winding past rustic villages and scenic landscapes towards our next destination - Chettinad. The terrain is gently flat, ideal for leisurely pedalling and absorbing the beautiful surroundings. Stay at a heritage bungalow reflecting its traditional architecture and charm. Experience a cooking demonstration showcasing the area's authentic cuisine, offering a taste of its rich culinary heritage. Chettinad cuisine is of a community called the Nattukotai Chettiars, or Nagarathars. It uses a variety of spices and the dishes which are cooked with fresh ground masalas. Evening, its time to enjoy heritage walks delving into local traditions and architecture.
Day 6: Cycling to Madurai
Activity: Cycling through rustic villages, Transfer to Hotel, Visit Meenakshi temple and local market, Visit Thirumalai Naik Palace, Taste authentic food from Murugan Idly Shop popular for different varieties of Masala Dosa, taste Mushroom Masala Dosa & Gigarthanda etc

Early mornings are meant to explore, a 60km ride through the most charming villages and backroads to Madurai, cultural capital of Tamil Nadu. The flat terrain will ensure you a relaxed journey, perfect for enjoying the rural landscapes and local culture. Check in to a heritage stay in Madurai where you can first-hand experience its rich heritage ambiance and allied luxuries. Then we’ll explore the rich culture of Madurai at the marvellous Meenakshi Temple and in its busy markets, reflecting life here and brilliant commerce. Witness the grandeur of Thirumalai Naik Palace, a testimony to the architectural heritage of this city. Savor the traditional culinary experience in Madurai, where food means so much more than at the famous Murugan Idly Shop, which has all its varieties of Masala Dosa—especially the very tasty Mushroom Masala Dosa—the Gigarthanda for refreshment. Day 7: Cycling to Munnar
Activity: Cycling through villages & Ghat roads, Transfer to Hotel, Visit Tea Factory and Tea Museum Enroute, Tea plantation walk

An exciting 60 km morning ride from the countryside to the hill station of Munnar, riding through charming villages and picturesque ghat roads. Munnar rises as three mountain streams merge - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. This hill station is 1,600 m above sea level. The terrain varies from flat stretches to challenging uphill climbs. Upon arrival, your stay at a cozy hotel, gives a complete view of the beautiful hills. Explore Munnar's tea heritage with visits to a Tea Factory and Tea Museum en route, where you'll learn about the tea-making process and its historical significance. Take a leisurely tea plantation walk, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the rolling hills blanketed with tea bushes. Day 8: Cycling to Thodupuzha
